STAGE 1
11.15am ANGELS INK
www.myspace.com/angelsink
Angels Ink is an indie rock group based in Brisbane, Australia. Its members, Michael Beattie, Angus Broadfoot and Nathan Strickland were all long-time friends when they formed Angels Ink in 2005. In the following years they performed many small shows throughout Brisbane and the Gold Coast. During this time their sound was continually developing and the group created the songs that now appear on their debut album “Dusk Aviation”.
“Dusk Aviation” was recorded, mixed and produced with Neil Coombe at The White Room recording studio during 2008. The album was mastered by the renowned Don Bartley at Benchmark Mastering in Sydney.
On guitar and vocals Michael is incredibly creative and sincere. His lyrics express a very personal hope to find peace in a compassionate and beautiful world where love reigns and selfish, modern obsessions are seen for what they are. The resulting sound is precisely accompanied by Angus on the drums. Angus plays every beat with distinction and regard, igniting and lifting every song to an energetic state of emotional rapture. While Nathan not only adds the tonal depth of bass but offers a concurrent point of interest and parallel melodies to accompany the interesting vocal melodies and guitar progressions of Michael. Between the three of them they have created a sound which can be dually appreciated for its complexity and its simplicity. Angels Ink is music of beauty, energy and stark honesty within basic pop arrangements.
Together Michael, Angus and Nathan hope that Angels Ink will be able to reach and move people in a very real sense. These songs have a resounding positive tone and hope to their purpose.
