This inaugural outdoor opera event extends the 2008 Ambiwerra Festival program to two days. Featuring the state’s largest performing arts company, The Queensland Orchestra, with more than 70 musicians, world-leading conductor, Maestro Johannes Fritzsch, and four international opera soloists.

Gates open at 5:30 pm for a 7:00pm start. On-site parking available for $5.00.

Popular TV identity, Sofie Formica, hosts the program of famous arias including The Pearl Fishers, Merry Widow, La Traviata, Rigoletto, Candide, and Barber of Seville by Rossini, Verdi, Bizet, Leoncavallo, Mascagni, Lehar and Bernstein.

Maestro Fritzsch, joined the TQO as Chief Conductor earlier this year. He is also Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra and Opera Graz in Austria, and divides his time between Graz and Brisbane.

Soprano, Lorina Gore, a principal artist with Opera Australia, has several prestigious opera awards to her credit and has attended the National Opera Studio in London.

Leading Australian soprano, Nicole Youl, has won awards here and in the USA, Italy and Mexico and enjoys a growing reputation.

Michael Lewis is highly respected for his operatic and concert repertoire including all the major high baritone works, from Mozart to Wagner, in Europe, America, Asia and Australia.

Bradley Daley has studied in Australia and the UK and has performed extensively in Europe, Asia and Australia and is frequently broadcast on radio and television.
